Collegian ends junior year with perfect GPA

Mary Beth Popp has completed her junior year at the Robert E. Cook Honors College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a 4.0 grade point average for the spring semester.

A 1996 graduate of North Carroll High School, she is majoring in journalism and political science. She is spending the summer as an intern at the Cypriot Embassy in Washington.

Popp is a member of the Pennsylvania Pi chapter of Pi Gamma Mu, international honor society in social science, and is incoming secretary of the Student Congress.

She is the daughter of John and Mary Popp of Manchester.


Hampstead: Firefighters responded at 1: 35 p.m. Tuesday to a brush fire in the 4900 block of Wentz Road. Units were out one hour.

Hampstead: Firefighters from Hampstead, Manchester and Arcadia in Baltimore County responded at 10: 03 a.m. Tuesday to a house fire in the 1300 block of N. Main St. Units were out 22 minutes.

Hampstead: Firefighters responded at 7: 19 a.m. Tuesday to a fire alarm in the 4200 block of Hillcrest Ave. Units were out two minutes.
