Kraus' 75 wins Titleholders Cup

July 07, 1999|By SPECIAL TO THE SUN

Long-hitting Andrea Kraus was as blistering on the par-5s as yesterday's oppressive heat as she won the 40th renewal of the Greiner Titleholders Cup with a par-equaling tour of 38-37--75 at Baltimore Country Club.

Kraus, from Woodholme CC, who also won this event in 1993-94, had a five-stroke margin over Bonnie Fry of Maryland G&CC, 80, and Connie Pifer, Sparrows Point CC, 80. Shirley Williams of Mount Pleasant GC also shot 80 and earned the Chance Cup for Seniors.

Kraus birdied five of the seven par-5s, reached several greens in two and two-putted. For the round, her putting was somewhat shaky as she finished with six birdies, six pars and six bogeys over the 6,030-yard East Course.
