Collision kills woman, injures two drivers

July 01, 1999

A two-car collision in Edgewater killed one elderly woman Tuesday and seriously injured another at Routes 2 and 214, county police said.

Paramedics pronounced Marian Deputy Dick, 80, of the 3000 block of Riverview Road in Riva, dead at the scene. She was a passenger in a 1986 Honda Accord driven by Rhea Gertrude Brown, 78, of the 100 block of Remital Road in Riva, county police said.

Brown was in critical but stable condition yesterday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The accident occurred at 4: 07 p.m. when the Honda, traveling east on Route 214, attempted to make a left turn onto Route 2, county police said.

In the intersection, the Honda entered the path of a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling west on Route 214.

The truck, driven by Douglas Gregory, 31, of the 3700 block of Carroll Road in Edgewater, struck the right side of the Honda, police said.

Gregory was treated for minor injuries at Anne Arundel Medical Center and released.

County police said that neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the accident and that the occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts.
