Blue Jays update: Toronto beat Tampa Bay last night, 3-2, to end a three-game losing streak. Last week the Blue Jays were in danger of being passed by the Orioles for third place in the AL East, but remain three games ahead of them thanks to the Orioles' 1-5 skid. Ageless Tony Fernandez, a longtime nemesis of the Orioles, has a league-leading .400 average. The Blue Jays have used 43 players this year, two more than all of last season. The club record is 45. Among the current Blue Jays are former Orioles Wells, Geronimo Berroa and Willis Otanez. Toronto has won five of six against the Orioles this season, including an April sweep at SkyDome. Shawn Green hit two homers in the series, including one off Guzman, who allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings of a 6-0 loss. The day before, Wells limited the Orioles to two runs in 6 2/3 innings to pick up a win. Hentgen has allowed nine runs and 12 hits in 10 1/3 innings against the Orioles this season, but has escaped with two no-decisions. -- (Blue Jays statistics, 7C)
