A. Leroy Metz, 72, insurance agent

A. Leroy Metz, an insurance agent, died Sunday of undetermined causes at his Perry Hall home. He was 72.

Known as Roy, he worked for 50 years in the insurance business. He had been associated with Western Reserve Life Insurance Co. since 1963 and previously had worked for Mutual of Omaha and Penn Life Insurance Co.

He was born and raised in Wind Gap, Pa., and moved to Baltimore in the early 1950s.

As a young man, he organized and directed a dance band, which played at Pocono resorts. He also collected big-band recordings and was especially fond of the music of Frank Sinatra.

He was a member of Perry Hall Presbyterian Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair Road.

He is survived by three daughters, Barbara J. Metz of Hampden, and Susan E. Metz and Cindy L. Metz, both of Parkville; a brother, Morris Metz of Easton, Pa; and a sister, Sarah Jones of Stroudsburg, Pa.
