Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Northwestern District

Escape: Police continued yesterday to search for a man who slipped out of handcuffs, opened the door to a patrol wagon and escaped while being transported about 10 p.m. Tuesday to Central Booking and Intake Center. Agent Angelique Cook-Hayes, a police spokeswoman, said John Edward Wise, 20, of the 5300 block of Cordelia Ave. in Pimlico was arrested in the 2800 block of Reisterstown Road and charged with operating a stolen car. He escaped in the 1200 block of W. North Ave.

Southwestern District

Drugs seized: Officers of the district's drug enforcement unit continued yesterday to seek the occupants of a house in the 2100 block of N. Longwood St., which was raided Saturday. Nearly 800 capsules of suspected heroin -- with a street value of at least $4,000 -- were seized.

Central District

Burglary: Computer equipment and cash, all valued at more than $2,200, were stolen Tuesday from an apartment in the 200 block of N. Charles St.

Eastern District

Robbery: When a man, 40, left a store in the 2100 block of E. Biddle St. about 7 p.m. Tuesday, two men, one with a handgun, went through his pockets looking for money. Finding none, they robbed him of three packs of cigarettes valued at $6.

Baltimore County

Essex Precinct

Theft: Stereo equipment valued at $1,000 was stolen Tuesday from a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck parked in the 500 block of Marlyn Ave.

Parkville Precinct

Burglary: Seventy compact discs valued at more than $1,400 were stolen Monday from a house in the 3000 block of Linwood Ave.

Towson Precinct

Robbery: A female, 17, was assaulted by a man and robbed of $80 about 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 6700 block of Loch Raven Blvd.

For the record

Arrest: A man charged in a warrant with first-degree murder in a shooting May 21 surrendered to city police Monday at the Central District. Torino Truitt, 24, of the 600 block of N. Payson St. had been sought in the shooting of Steven Jupiter, 19, of the 1600 block of W. Mulberry St. near Truitt's home. Truitt is being held without bail at the Central Booking and Intake Center.
