Sister Mary George, 91, teacher, nurse's aide

Sister Mary George Feneis, a former teacher and nurse's aide, died in her sleep Saturday at Villa Assumpta, motherhouse of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, near Towson. She was 91.

Sister George was a nurse's aide at Villa Maria, the order's retirement home in Notch Cliff, Baltimore County, and retired in 1995. Before working at Notch Cliff, she taught in parochial schools in Baltimore, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Born Mary Rose Feneis in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a stenographer and typist until she entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1927. She professed her vows in 1931 and earned a bachelor's degree from Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y., in 1945.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today at Villa Assumpta, 6401 N. Charles St.

She is survived by a brother, Thomas Feneis of Monmouth Beach, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
