Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum: Appointed Dale Petroskey president.

Bridgeport (Atlantic League): Announced the contract of LHP Terry Rosenkranz has been purchased by the Orioles and assigned to Double-A Bowie.

Blue Jays: Activated P Paul Quantrill from the 60-day DL and former Orioles RF Geronimo Berroa from the 15-day DL. Designated DH Dave Hollins for assignment.

Cubs: Recalled P Doug Creek from Triple-A Iowa.

Devil Rays: Signed OF Carl Crawford.

Mariners: Designated P Mac Suzuki for assignment. Recalled P Melvin Bunch from Triple-A Tacoma.

Rangers: Signed P Colby Lewis.

Red Sox: Designated P Jim Corsi for assignment; recalled P Bob Wolcott from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Basketball

NBA: Refused to let Knicks add F Ben Davis to their playoff roster, saying injuries to F Larry Johnson, C Patrick Ewing and G David Wingate did not meet the "extreme hardship" standard.

WNBA Liberty: Activated C Venus Lacy from the injured list. Placed F-C Rebecca Lobo (knee surgery) on the injured list.

Football

Broncos: Agreed to terms with DE Neil Smith. Signed rookie CB Chris Watson.

Seahawks: Charges that RB Ahman Green assaulted his former girlfriend have been dismissed after the woman told prosecutors she would not return to Washington for his trial.

Colleges

UMBC: Hired Steve Michelotti hired as head strength and conditioning coach.
