A Westminster man was being held yesterday at the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail after he was arrested on charges of breaking into a garage and stealing $23,000 hidden in an ammunition box.

Michael P. Manner, 30, of the 100 block of Pennsylvania Ave. was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree burglary and theft over $300. The theft occurred in September in the 100 block of Carroll St. in Westminster.

In charging documents, police said they received an anonymous tip in November that linked Manner to a blue Pontiac.

Westminster detectives said the suspect's bank records showed he deposited $23,000 and paid off a small loan two days after the burglary.

In January, police found a Westminster man who had sold a blue 1964 Pontiac to the suspect six days after the burglary.
