A 19-year-old Anne Arundel County man was killed early yesterday when the pickup truck in which he was a passenger veered off the road, hit two trees and flipped over in Lothian, police said.

Anne Arundel County police identified the dead man as Thomas James Allen of Shadyside, who was riding in a 1995 Ford pickup driven by Edward Wayne Gottschalk, 20, also of Shadyside.

At about 4 a.m., the pickup ran off of Mount Zion Marlboro Road west of Boones Drive and onto the shoulder, hitting a guardrail and sending it back across the road and into the trees, police said.

Allen was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5: 20 a.m. Gottschalk and a second passenger, Stephen Jason Langley, 21, of Harwood, were admitted to Prince George's Hospital Center, police said, where they were in stable condition last night.
