Olympics athletes compete

Carroll County athletes who participated in the Maryland Special Olympics Summer Games last weekend at the University of Maryland, College Park, received these awards.

Carrie Billings: English equitation, eighth place; team relays, second place; working trails, fourth place.

Ray Clark: 50-meter dash and 100-meter dash, second place.

Kristen Davis: 4x25-meter free relay, third place; 50-meter backstroke, second place; 50-meter breaststroke, participation ribbon; 50-meter freestyle, sixth place.

Jennifer Doyle: 25-meter and 50-meter freestyle, second place.

Adam Dunn: English equitation, sixth place; team relays, second place; working trails, second.

Tori Eshelman: 25-meter freestyle and 35-meter backstroke, first place.

Ralph Gemmill: English equitation, fourth place; team relays, third place; working trails, fourth place.

Nicole Hurley: 4x25-meter free relay, 50-meter backstroke, 50-meter freestyle, third place.

Kevin Mulloy: 25-meter wheelchair race, 30-meter wheelchair slalom, first place; softball throw, fourth place.

Nicki Nalesnik: 4x25-meter free relay, third place; 50-meter backstroke, fifth place; 50-meter freestyle, second place.

Josh Smith: Dressage, English equitation, first place; team relays, third place; working trails, second place.

John Sollers: 400-meter dash, second place; softball throw, first place; standing long jump, second place.

Erin Strevig: Dressage, English equitation, second place; team relays, third place; working trails, fifth place.

Ann Sturgeon: 4x25-meter free relay, third place; 50-meter backstroke, fourth place; 50-meter freestyle, eighth place.

Jeannine Taylor: 50-meter dash, softball throw, third place; standing long jump, second place.

Christine Utz: 50-meter dash, standing long jump, second place; softball throw, first place.

Vernon Wallace: 400-meter dash, softball throw, second place; long jump, fourth place.

Bruce Watt: Dressage, third place; English equitation, fifth place; working trails, fourth place.
