Fire and water

The Fire Museum of Maryland sponsors Fire and Water Day Saturday. The event features demonstrations of an 1899 steamer, an 1898 water tower, antique fire engines and draft horses and miniature working steam engines. Children's activities include a water brigade and pumping contest, face painting and story time with Fox 45 sports anchor Steve Davis. Food will be available.

The museum is at 1301 York Road in Lutherville. The event runs 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Story time is noon and 1:30 p.m. $12 family pass; $5 adults; $4 firefighters and seniors; $3 children 4-18; free 3 and under. Call 410-321-7500.

Dental 'Fun Fest'

The National Museum of Dentistry celebrates its third anniversary with a Family Fun Fest Saturday. Participants will enjoy storytelling by the Tooth Fairy, singing and dancing by the Kinderman and two short plays presented by the Open Space theater arts group. The Zoomobile from the Baltimore Zoo will offer a petting zoo of "toothy" critters, and a local veterinarian will demonstrate pet dental care.

The National Museum of Dentistry is on the Baltimore campus of the University of Maryland at the corner of Lombard and Greene streets. The Fun Fest will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. $2; free 6 and under. Call 410-706-0052.
