Around town

Bill Struever is known to many as the Baltimore developer who breathes new life into historic city structures (i.e., the American Can Co. and Tindeco Wharf). So how do you suppose this busy man about town gets around town? Forget 300 horsepower. Try one-man paddle power. Struever is a keen kayaker.

Every morning, Struever says, he kayaks from Locust Point to Fells Point for his morning coffee at the Daily Grind. Then he paddles to his office in Canton.

And when he has phone calls to return, he does so in the middle of the Baltimore harbor. No disturbances that way, he explains. Only the occasional tugboat to dodge.
