Padres: Assigned P Antonio Diaz to Single-A Fort Wayne.

Reds: Assigned P Stan Belinda to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference: Named Rev. Harold E. Ridley president.

Butler: Announced G Brandon Miller has transferred from Southwest Missouri State and will be eligible starting in 2000-2001 basketball season.

Eastern Michigan: Named Bob Lombardi assistant football coach.

Findlay: Announced retirement of football coach Dick Strahm.

Georgia: Named Ron Polk baseball coach.

Johns Hopkins: OF/P John Christ (3.49 GPA) was named first-team GTE College Division Baseball Academic All-American.

Maryland: Cortney Madea was named to 1999 GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America softball third team.

Navy: Announced women's soccer player Nicole Aunapu was 1998-99 Patriot League Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. Announced Pat Owen was named Patriot League Men's Golf Coach of the Year.

Bengals: Waived RB Brandon Bennett.
