Purse: $2.5 million.

Winner's share: $450,000.

TV: Golf Channel and Fox Sports Net (today-tomorrow, 4-6: 30 p.m.) and CBS (Saturday, 4-6 p.m.; Sunday, 3-6 p.m.).

Last week: Olin Browne won his second career title, the MasterCard Colonial.

Notes: Tiger Woods won last week's European Tour event, putting him back into second place in the world golf rankings. He moved ahead of Davis Love III, who had passed him two weeks ago. Brad Faxon slipped on a ladder in his home, broke his wrist and will be off the tour for six to eight weeks. Browne moved up to 53rd in the world golf rankings with last week's victory. He needs to be in the top 50 after the Kemper to qualify for the British Open.


Corning Classic

Site: Corning, N.Y.

Schedule: Today-Sunday.

Course: Corning Country Club (6,062 yards, par 72).

Purse: $750,000.

Winner's share: $116,250.

TV: Golf Channel (today-tomorrow, 1-4 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 2-5 p.m.).

Last week: Akiko Fukushima won the Philips Invitational by two strokes for her first career LPGA Tour victory.

Notes: Fukushima won 13 titles in Japan before joining the American tour this year. She is the first rookie to win on the U.S. women's tour this season. Hall of Fame inductee Beth Daniel set an LPGA record with nine consecutive birdies in the second round of the Philips Invitational.

Senior PGA Tour

Boone Valley Classic

Site: Belton, Mo.

Schedule: Tomorrow-Sunday.

Course: Boone Valley Golf Club (6,931 yards, par 72).

Purse: $1.4 million.

Winner's share: $210,000.

TV: ESPN (tomorrow, 3-5 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 5: 30-7 p.m.).

Last week: Tom Jenkins won the Bell Atlantic Classic in a one-hole playoff with Jim Thorpe.

Notes: Jack Nicklaus shot consecutive 70s last week to finish 2-under par in his first tournament since hip replacement surgery in January. Tom Watson has said he will play only majors until he turns 50 in September and joins the Senior PGA Tour.
