Athletics: When Tony Phillips walked in the third, it was his 1,277th walk -- tying Al Kaline for 28th place all-time. Teammate Tim Raines is 27th with 1,279 walks. Despite the win, Oakland is 8-14 against AL Central teams this season.

Rangers: Catcher Ivan Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to 15 games. He also stole his 12th base, making him successful in his past 10 attempts. Outfielder Tom Goodwin stole his AL-best 21st base in the third inning. He also was caught twice attempting to steal second.

Red Sox: Boston has won four of its past five games at Yankee Stadium.

Tigers: The team announced 13,087 tickets sold, but not nearly that many fans were in attendance.

White Sox: Rookie Chris Singleton has 20 hits this season, 10 for extra bases.

Yankees: All three of Chuck Knoblauch's homers this year have led off the first inning. Derek Jeter has reached base in 43 straights game, the majors' longest streak this year. Paul O'Neill singled in the sixth for his 1,000th hit with New York.
