Adams Express elects Rishel vice president for research

The Adams Express Co. elected Barbara L. Rishel as vice president, research, for the Baltimore-based equity investment company.

Formerly an equity analyst with Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Co., Rishel is an MBA graduate of the University of Baltimore. She is a native of Baltimore.

Baptiste is a vice president for Comcast Cablevision

Comcast Cablevision appointed Michael A. Baptiste as mid-Atlantic region vice president for advertising. He had been director of advertising sales for Comcast's mid-Atlantic region.

A graduate of Xavier University of New Orleans, he is active in the National Association of African Americans in Cable.

Cottrell executive sous chef at Renaissance Harborplace

Renaissance Harborplace Hotel said James "Ben" Cottrell was appointed executive sous chef for its Windows restaurant. He will be responsible for kitchen operation, restaurant and banquet menu planning and training culinary personnel in classic and innovative cooking.

The Johnson & Wales University graduate has been in the culinary arts profession for more than 28 years and has been with the Renaissance chain since 1990, last serving in its Sao Paulo, Brazil, location.


Truax is research director at Gray, Kirk/VanSant

Gray, Kirk/VanSant Advertising and Public Relations named Barry Truax, a senior vice president, director of research and strategic planning.

He will direct and develop an in-house market research library to supply demographic, industry, trends and competitive information for the agency. His department will also assist account management teams in developing marketing strategies for clients.

Shay joins Gordon, Feinblatt business law group

Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander has hired Cynthia A. Shay as an associate in its business law group. Before joining the Baltimore firm, she was with the St. Paul Cos.

The University of Baltimore law graduate is a certified public accountant and an MBA candidate at UB. She is active in several professional organizations.


David Hillary is partner at C. W. Amos & Co.

C. W. Amos & Co. elected David W. Hillary as a partner in the Baltimore accounting and consulting firm. A graduate of Indiana University, Hillary holds both an MBA and a doctor of laws.

The Anne Arundel County resident is a member of several professional groups and active with the Rotary and serves as a trustee of the Masonic Home.
