Westminster came into Ferndale yesterday and won both the boys and girls Class 4A East Region track and field meet at North County High school.

The Owls of Carroll County bested the Annapolis boys by 129-101 and on the girls side topped runner-up Arundel, 148-106.

Westminster piled up the points with a host of placers from top to bottom in the 18 events.

The Owls had four individual winners on the boys side with Ifeanyi Ani, the only double-winner in the long and triple jumps, and took five seconds with hurdler Jared Craig grabbing a pair.

Class 2A East Region: Stephen Decatur won six boys events and finished in the top three in 10 others on the way to 156 points and its second consecutive 2A title.

Alex Scally of Poly won the 1,600 (4: 42.7) and 3,200 (10: 35.2).

Southern-AA won the girls competition with 135 points, led by Maureen Carr (1,600 and 800).
