The Colonial

Site: Fort Worth, Texas.

Schedule: Today-Sunday.

Course: Colonial Country Club (7,010 yards, par 70).

Purse: $2.8 million.

Winner's share: $504,000.

TV: Golf Channel and Fox Sports Net (today-tomorrow, 4-6: 30 p.m.) and CBS (Saturday, 4-6 p.m.; Sunday, 3-6 p.m.).

Last year: Tom Watson finished with a 4-under 66 for a two-stroke victory over Jim Furyk.

Last week: Loren Roberts won the Byron Nelson Classic in Irving, Texas, in a one-hole playoff with Steve Pate.

Notes: Colonial's clubhouse features a bronze statue of Ben Hogan, a five-time winner in his hometown event. Hogan is the only player to successfully defend a Colonial title (1946-47 and 1952-53). Fulton Allem set the tournament record of 20-under 264 in 1993.


Philips Invitational

Site: Austin, Texas.

Schedule: Today-Sunday.

Course: Onion Creek Country Club (6,101 yards, par 70).

Purse: $800,000.

Winner's share: $120,000.

TV: CBS (Saturday-Sunday, 1-3 p.m.).

Last year: None. This is an inaugural event.

Last week: Meg Mallon won the Sara Lee Classic in Nashville, Tenn., by one stroke over Kris Tschetter and Annika Sorenstam.

Notes: This is the LPGA's first stop in Austin since the 1962 Civitan Open. The last time the tour was in Texas was the 1991 U.S. Women's Open.

Senior PGA Tour

Bell Atlantic Classic

Site: Avondale, Pa.

Schedule: Tomorrow-Sunday.

Course: Hartefeld National Golf Club (6,911 yards, par 72).

Purse: $1.1 million.

Winner's share: $165,000.

TV: ESPN (tomorrow, 3-5 p.m.; Saturday, 5: 30-7 p.m.; Sunday, 2-4 p.m.).

Last year: Jay Sigel beat Spain's Jose Maria Canizares with a birdie on the third hole of a playoff.

Last week: Vicente Fernandez finished two strokes ahead of Dave Eichelberger to win the Las Vegas Senior Classic.

Notes: Jack Nicklaus will be competing for the first time since hip replacement surgery in January. This is the second year the tournament will be played at Hartefeld National.
