Dulaney girls, boys take Day 1 leads

Baltimore County meet resumes today at Hereford

Track and field

Dulaney's distance runners once again came through in solid fashion yesterday as both the school's girls and boys teams took the lead in the two-day Baltimore County track and field championships at Hereford High School.

That Dulaney's girls took the lead was no surprise, with Tenke Zoltani dominating the 3,200-meter run in 11 minutes, 20 seconds and sharing in a 3,200 relay win.

Parkville stood a close second to Dulaney's girls, 39-38, with Perry Hall in the chase with 32 points.

The Dulaney boys' 10-point advantage over defending champion Woodlawn, 39-29, at the end of Day 1 came as a mild surprise.

Of course, dead ahead in the meet's closing session starting at 10 a.m. today are events the Warriors thrive on -- the hurdles, sprints and the shorter relays.

Dulaney's boys nipped Woodlawn in the 3,200 relay by less than a second in 8: 14.1, but their team margin was accomplished when Greg Dulaney won the 3,200 run.
