Jones re-elected Union Bridge mayor by 23 votes

May 13, 1999

Although he was the only candidate listed on the ballot, Union Bridge Mayor Perry L. Jones, received only slightly more than half of the votes cast in Tuesday's municipal election.

Jones was returned to office for a third term, with 60 of the 114 votes cast, while write-in candidates divided the rest.

The results were nearly the same for incumbent Town Council members Bret Grossnickle and Donald Wilson, with each receiving 59 votes. They also were unopposed.

About 26 percent of the town's 430 registered voters cast ballots.

The leading write-in candidate was Selby Black, who received 37 votes for mayor. Bonnie Hyde and Jo Isrealson received 37 and 35 votes in the council race.
