A body believed to be that of a woman was found yesterday in an alley in the Pimlico section of Northwest Baltimore, police said.

Police said a pedestrian flagged down a Northwestern District police officer about 5 p.m. and led him to an alley behind the 4900 block of Denmore Ave.

There, the officer found what appeared to be the body of a woman wrapped in a rug, police said.

Police said the body, which had no visible signs of foul play or identification, was taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
