Cynthia Nicholls

Long Reach, track

The junior won three events at the Jenkins Invitational at Sherwood High School. She took first in the long jump (17 feet, 5 inches) the 100-meter hurdles (15.1) and the high jump (5-0). In addition, Nicholls was fourth in the 100-meter dash. Nicholls, the county champ last spring in the long jump and triple jump, also won the state Class 2A-3A bronze medal indoors in the 55-meter hurdles earlier this year.

Victor Thillet

Old Mill, track

The junior set a meet record in the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 23.6 seconds at the Golliday Memorial Meet at Old Mill, eclipsing the mark of 4: 25.9 that stood since 1980. Thillet also set a meet record in the 800 (1: 57.7), breaking a record (1: 58.6) that had lasted since 1986. The marks are the fourth and fifth records Thillet has set this year. He was the 1,600 indoor state champ and is the defending 3,200 outdoor state champ.
