Cardinals: J.D. Drew left the game after being thrown out trying to go from first to third in the third. He suffered a strained right quadriceps and was day-to-day. St. Louis lost for only the second time in 13 games when scoring first.

Cubs: Pitcher Jon Lieber, put on the disabled list after being hit in the eye by a thrown ball in batting practice April 24, threw an 80-pitch simulated game and could be ready for his next start Saturday.

Diamondbacks: Luis Gonzalez is 25-for-63 (.397) during his 17-game hitting streak. He has reached base in all of his 22 games.

Mets: Rickey Henderson missed the game with a slightly sprained right knee.
