In a mailing to subscribers today, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra announces details of its Summer MusicFest programs in Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and its outdoor concerts at Oregon Ridge Park.

Summer MusicFest, the BSO's five-concert series at the Meyerhoff, begins June 16 with the festival's artistic director, renowned violinist-conductor Pinchas Zukerman, as soloist and conductor in Vivaldi's "Four Seasons."

Joining Zukerman in four programs, featuring chamber and orchestral works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven, will be such well-known soloists as pianist Jon Kimura Parker and cellist Gary Hoffman, as well as soloists from the ranks of the orchestra.

BSO Associate Conductor Daniel Hege will lead the final Summer MusicFest concert on June 30, "A Night in Old Vienna." As in past years, concert-goers will be able to enjoy music and dancing outside the Meyerhoff at the conclusion of each concert.

Each orchestral concert will begin at 7: 30 p.m. and will be preceded by a chamber-music performance at 6: 30 p.m. The dates and programs for the other concerts in the series are as follows: an all-Mozart program on June 18; an all-Tchaikovsky program on June 23; an all-Beethoven program on June 25.

Summer MusicFest tickets are priced $15-$37. For tickets and more information, call 410-783-8000.

The Oregon Ridge series begins July 3 and 4 with a program of favorites that includes American music and concludes with Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture." Subsequent dates include an all-Broadway program on July 10; a film-music program on July 17; an all-Russian program, featuring pianist Stephen Prutsman performing Tchaikovsky's Concerto No. 1, on July 23; and a program of film music from recent Disney releases on July 31.

All Oregon Ridge concerts begin at 8 p.m., and each ends with a fireworks display. Tickets are $13 in advance, $14 on the day of the concert and $7 for all children under 12.

They can be purchased at the Meyerhoff box office, at the customer service center at Hunt Valley Mall or at the park on the day of the concert. For further information or for tickets, call 410-783-8000.
