Indians: Traded P Jerry Spradlin to Giants for minor-league OF Dan McKinley and player to be named.

Rangers: Recalled P Mike Venafro from Triple-A Oklahoma.

Twins: Transferred P Hector Carrasco to 60-day DL. Claimed P Jack Cressend off waivers from Red Sox and optioned him to Double-A New Britain.

Schaumberg (Independent): Signed former Orioles OF Brent Bowers.


Harlem Globetrotters: Named former Wizards coach Bernie Bickerstaff coaching consultant for 1999 College All-Star series.
