Vendors wanted for Mount Airy's Spring Fling

THE TOWN OF Mount Airy invites you to participate in the annual Spring Fling on Main Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 15.

The event will feature craft and other vendors offering an array of goods, including food. Businesses, local nurseries and civic organizations will offer fun activities, demonstrations and entertainment for all ages.

If you would like to participate, call Irene Brown at 301-829-3609 or Jennifer Heflin at 301-831-0735 to obtain a participant form.

The form, along with two photographs of the products you plan to exhibit or sell and a check made payable to the Town of Mount Airy, must be returned no later than May 5.

Vendor spaces are $25, and nonprofit organizations pay $5. Spaces will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Once your check is received, you will be sent a letter of confirmation with the number of your assigned space.

Breakfast in Winfield

The Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department will hold its spring all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The buffet-style breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, hominy, pudding, sausage, sausage gravy, fried potatoes, biscuits, and hot and cold beverages.

The cost is $4.50 for adults and $2.50 for children under age 10. The Winfield firehouse is on Old Liberty Road (Route 26) between Eldersburg and Taylorsville. Information: Dick Baker at 410-875-4107.

Rabies clinic offered

A rabies vaccination clinic will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Winfield Fire Department, 1320 Old Liberty Road.

Maryland law requires all dogs and cats older than 4 months to be vaccinated against rabies. This clinic, sponsored by the Carroll County Health Department's Bureau of Environmental Health, is for dogs, cats and ferrets older than 3 months.

Vaccinations will be administered by licensed veterinarians. Animals must be restrained by leashes or carriers. The cost is $5 per animal. Information: 410-857-5009 or 410-876-1884.

Fun with Artists program

The Mount Airy public library will hold its Fun with Artists program at 4: 30 p.m. Wednesday for children in grades three and up.

Join the library staff for the fun as participants paint and draw. Through pictures and stories, children will learn about some of the world's most famous artists, including Picasso, Van Gogh and Matisse. Kids will have an opportunity to create their own masterpieces.

Children should bring smocks or wear clothes that can get messy. Registration is required. The library is at 705 Ridge Ave. in Mount Airy. Information: 410-795-1010 or 301-829-5290.

Play auditions

The Mount Airy Players have announced auditions for their July outdoor performance of Oscar Wilde's classic comedy "The Importance of Being Earnest."

Auditions will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and May 5 and 6 at St. James Episcopal Church, 204 N. Main St. in Mount Airy.

Kids Stuff yard sale

The Mount Airy PTA will hold its annual Kids Stuff yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon May 1 next to the parking lot at Mount Airy Elementary School.

Spaces are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Vendors will be responsible for removal of all unsold items after the sale.
