Quote: "Today was a day for our young guys. It's very invigorating. That's one thing young players do for you." -- Giants manager Dusty Baker after youngsters Armando Rios, Joe Nathan and Ramon Martinez led San Francisco over Florida. It's a fact: A total of 1,379,433 fans attended the 30 opening days this month, averaging 45,981 per game, second only to the record of 1,392,101 set in 1993.

Who's hot: Derrek Lee had two of the Marlins' four hits off the Giants' Joe Nathan yesterday and went 5-for-11 in the three-game series.

Who's not: The Cubs' Scott Sanders (0-2) gave up four runs -- all earned and all driven in by Jeff Bagwell -- and six hits in six innings.

On deck: Hideo Nomo will make his third start today with Triple-A Iowa and, according to his contract, the Cubs must then decide whether to call him up or release him.
