Md. planner will speak to Finksburg area council

The Finksburg Planning Area Council will have a community meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church.

Ron Young, deputy director for the Maryland Office of Planning and the governor's point person on the Neighborhood Conservation/Smart Growth Initiative, will speak.

Young will discuss priority funding areas slated for new growth and show the growth areas in Carroll County.

Elections will be held for officers and board members. Nominees are: Donald Hoffman, president; Denny Broderick, vice president; Sue Hoffman, secretary; Jack Hancock, treasurer; and Dave O'Callaghan, communications director.

Board nominees are Maureen Ackerman, Dan Bleclic, Doris Edwards and Neil Ridgely.

The church is at 2101 Old Westminster Pike.

Fire

Westminster: Firefighters from Westminster and Pleasant Valley responded at 5: 33 p.m. Monday to an oven fire in the 300 block of Glen Oak Court. Units were out 15 minutes.

Police

Westminster: A resident of St. Mark Way told police on Monday that someone broke the rear window of his vehicle while at Carroll Lutheran Village. Damage was estimated at $150.

Westminster: An employee of Barnes and Bollinger Insurance told police on Monday that someone spray-painted the walls of an outbuilding at the rear of the business. Damage is estimated at $100.
