Chamber of Commerce plans after-hours mixer Thursday

Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce Inc. will hold an after-hours mixer from 5: 30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. Thursday, sponsored by St. John's College, 60 College Ave., Annapolis. The event will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium.

Cost for members is $15 at the door and $20 for nonmembers. The chamber serves as the business voice for Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.

Businesswomen's group offers $2,000 scholarship

Maryland Capital Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will sponsor a scholarship through the Stephen Bufton Memorial Education Fund. The $2,000 nonrenewable scholarship is for tuition, books and fees.

Applicants must be women who are U.S. citizens and residents of Anne Arundel County; must be college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduates in August; must be attending or accepted at an accredited college or university in the United States that is authorized to confer degrees at the baccalaureate level; and must have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Crofton chamber to hold new-member orientation

The Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce will hold its new-member orientation from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. April 29, in the conference room at O'Conor, Piper & Flynn Realty, Crofton Station Shopping Center.

Refreshments will be served. The meeting is open to the public.

Preparing a business plan is topic of May 26 seminar

Service Corps of Retired Executives Chapter 390 will conduct a seminar, "Let's Prepare a Business Plan," from 8: 45 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 26, at the lower level of the Conte Building, 116 Defense Highway, Annapolis.

The fee is $35. The workshop teaches an approach to making a business plan. The meeting is open to the public.
