Calvert Hall clips Mount St. Joe, 80-66

Track and field

Something about the Mount St. Joseph track brings out the best in Alan McDavid and Aaron Johnson.

For the second time this outdoor season, the Calvert Hall pair dominated every race from the dash through the mile as the Cardinals won yesterday's match of Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association titans, 80-66.

The Gaels, with wins in the hurdles, the 2-mile and four of the six field events, were able to put a dent in Calvert Hall's 39-15 advantage in the six running events, but the visitors won three of the four relays with something to spare.

Johnson, McDavid and Tim Knapp, who had a pair of seconds in the long sprints, played prominent roles in the relay success.

These two teams and Gilman figure to battle it out for the MIAA title, which will be decided Poly's track May 6-8.
