Krok lifts Meade past No. 1 Arundel

Mustangs forfeit away win over Glen Burnie

April 13, 1999|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Cliff Krok hit a two-run home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh as unranked Meade shocked top-ranked Arundel, 5-4, yesterday in baseball in Anne Arundel County.

Krok's homer to left field was his first of the season and stayed fair by only three feet.

The Mustangs (3-2) trailed 4-2 entering their last at-bat but Chris Rowley reached on an error, scoring Matt Lewis from first, to set up Krok's game-winning hit.

In other news, the Mustangs forfeited their 2-1 win over Glen Burnie last Wednesday.

Ted Bryan who pitched the Glen Burnie game skipped school that day and by the county rules is not allowed to play.

"He showed no regard for the team and deceived the coaching staff," said Meade's third-year coach Royal Webster who turned in his team yesterday and suffered the consequences.

"He [Bryan] knows the rules and showed up and played anyway. The coaches had no idea that he had missed school. It's very frustrating."
