In terms of raw talent, there wasn't an overwhelming difference between No. 3 Bryn Mawr and host No. 9 Liberty yesterday in the feature matchup of the 1999 Liberty Lacrosse Invitational.
In the end, however, the Mawrtians taught the Lions an important lesson: Poise counts.
Bryn Mawr took advantage of numerous dropped passes and missed shots, and midfielder Katie Coyne won 17 of 21 draws in the Mawrtians' 13-6 win.
Bryn Mawr (7-1), which earlier in the day defeated Centennial, 15-4, outshot Liberty (4-1) by only 20-17 but made its scoring opportunities count.
Miles Whitman led the way with four goals, and Meredith Goodell and Tara Hardiman added three goals each, as the Mawrtians took a 7-2 lead in the first 35 minutes.
"We knew this was a good team, so we tried to be really patient on offense," said Whitman. "We really wanted to look for the good pass."
