Resurfacing of Route 27 set to begin

The State Highway Administration will begin resurfacing Route 27 between Nicodemus Road and Bond Street Monday, weather permitting.

Work includes milling, patching and resurfacing the road and installing new guard rails along approximately four miles of Route 27.

Shoulder and single-lane closures may occur during off-peak hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. Flag persons, arrow boards, traffic cones and barrels will guide motorists through the work area.

The project is expected to be completed in the fall.

Fires

Westminster: Firefighters from Westminster, Reese, Pleasant Valley and Manchester responded at 6: 53 p.m. Wednesday to a building fire in the 500 block of S. Center St. Units were out 15 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters responded at 11: 54 a.m. Wednesday to an auto fire in the 400 block of Center St. Units were out 20 minutes.
