The Orioles' new look

March 11, 1999

The Orioles, seemingly never satisfied with their mascot, have tweaked the team's logo again.

A new, "prouder" bird now adorns the logo the team uses on official statements, stationary and other goods. The bird -- a far cry from the cartoonish one featured from the mid-1960s to the late 1980s -- is lifelike, but has puffed up its chest and taken on a stronger pose.

"To the average eye it might not appear that it is much, but I think it is a prouder image," said Orioles vice president of marketing and broadcasting Mike Lehr.
