Unranked Walbrook, struggling desperately as the game ended, nevertheless hung on to upset No. 20-ranked Lake Clifton in Class 4A North yesterday, 45-44.

Dana McGriff's game-high 28 points helped the Warriors (13-6) to a large lead, which almost vanished, and then ousted the Lakers from the playoffs. Lake Clifton (15-3) outscored the Warriors, 13-2, in the final period.

No. 9 Western 74, Perry Hall 33: Latia Few scored 17 points, Melanie Harrington had 16 and Joy Gorham 12 as the visiting Doves (20-3) rolled in Class 4A North. The Doves, who led 39-18 at halftime, limited the Gators to 12 field goals for the game.

Class 4A East

No. 15 Severna Park 62, Annapolis 35: Lauren Bessire and Beth Davis scored 12 points each to lead a balanced attack as the visiting Falcons (17-6) ran past the Panthers (5-18). Kim Lawton had 11 points and Lauren Huber added 10 for the Falcons.

Severna Park jumped to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter and took a 29-16 lead into halftime. Annapolis, led by Paula Postey's 17 points, could get no closer.

The Falcons, who will meet Anne Arundel County rival Meade on Tuesday, shot 50 percent.

Class 3A North

No. 17 Catonsville 52, Parkville 39: Leading 30-27 going into the fourth quarter, the Comets outscored host Parkville 22-12 to win going away. Nine players scored the winners.
