Left-turn lane to be constructed on Route 27 north

February 23, 1999

The State Highway Administration will build a second left-turn lane at northbound Route 27 and South Main Street in Mount Airy, starting March 1.

Construction will include a concrete median and modifications to the traffic signal. Wolfe and Son Inc. of Middletown was awarded the $109,000 contract.

During construction, which is expected to last through late spring, single-lane closings may occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. weekdays. Flagmen, concrete barriers, traffic cones and barrels will alert motorists and guide them through the work area.
