6-hour standoff in Aberdeen ends peacefully

February 21, 1999

A six-hour standoff between state police and an Aberdeen man ended peacefully last night when troopers rushed the man's home and found him alone and unarmed.

A 45-year-old man was being held for psychiatric evaluation last night after he called 911 several times and said there were bodies in his home in the 200 block of Poclain Road in Aberdeen, according to Detective Sgt. Jeffrey McCormack.

When the man repeatedly failed to respond to requests to come out of the house, tactical officers rushed through the front door about 7: 30 p.m. and found him unarmed and unhurt. The man, whose name was not released, had not been charged last night.
