Volunteer fire department names firefighter of year

Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department named Scott Seibert firefighter of the year and rookie of the year for 1998 at its annual installation and awards banquet.

The top fire responders were Greg Dods, Ronnie Legore, Tim Legore, John Laster, Kevin Warner, Barry Schneider, Wayne Logue, Scott Brister, Scott Seibert and Mike Fogle.

The top ambulance responders were Scott Seibert, Jamie Alder, Jim Clopein, Rodney Valentine, Greg Dods, David Bettinger, Chrissy Hopple, Mike Fogle, Ronnie Legore and Barry Schneider.

Ladies Auxiliary top fund-raiser and service awards went to Ruth Buckingham, Julia Franklin, Ruth Gosnell, Marie Goodwin, Bessie Barber, Barbara Zepp, Helen Wallace, Ruth Shaw, Peggy Logue and Becky Logue-Ruckman.

Line officers for 1999 are Ronnie Legore, fire chief; Greg Dods, first assistant chief; Tim Legore, second assistant chief; Robin Lamb, captain; Sean Ellis, first fire lieutenant; David Bettinger, second fire lieutenant; James Clopein, third fire lieutenant; Kevin Warner, fourth fire lieutenant; Rodney Valentine, Emergency Medical Services captain; Jamie Alder, first EMS lieutenant; and Scott Wallace, second EMS lieutenant.

Administrative officers are Scott Legore, president; Howard Legore, vice president; Kim Legore, secretary; Jeanne Legore, assistant secretary; Alison Arrowood, treasurer; and Sandy McKenzie, assistant treasurer.

Directors are Richard Hull, Barry Cullop, Scott Dayhoff, Jim Zuna, Dick Baker and Gary Rains. The chaplain is the Rev. John Morrill.

Ladies auxiliary officers are Becky Logue-Ruckman, president; Barbara Zepp, vice president; Helen Wallace, secretary; Ruth Gosnell, assistant secretary; Ann Kolpack, treasurer; Julia Franklin, chaplain; and Ruth Shaw, historian.

Junior fire department officers are Katie Lamb, president; Lenny Yox, captain; Denise Pickett, secretary; and Tina Zile, treasurer.

Fires

Winfield: Firefighters responded at 6: 40 p.m. Wednesday to a mailbox fire in the 3400 block of Hooper Road. Units were out 20 minutes.

Winfield: Firefighters responded at 1: 01 p.m. Wednesday to a house fire in the 14000 block of Union Chapel Road, Howard County. Units were out 30 minutes.
