New Windsor fire company presents awards

The New Windsor Fire and Hose Company presented awards at its annual banquet recently.

Jack Coe received a plaque for 32 years as treasurer. Tom Holland and Ed Palsgrove were given plaques for volunteerism. Edgar Wentz and Dick Warrenfeltz received plaques for chairing the breakfast committee for 12 years.

Other plaques went to Marcy Munshaur for compiling a 50th-anniversary history of the company; Drew Strine, Ronnie Blacksten, Richard Hooper, Gail Hooper, Rick Hooper and Alysia Hooper for making a video of "The First Fifty Years."

Kyle Petry was named Outstanding Junior Fireman of the year.

Clock plaques were presented for 50 years of service to Wilbur Blacksten, Charles Fritz, Fred Hooper, George Petry, Norman Hann, William Kroh, Cassell Roop, Calvin Strine. Other awards went to John Obrecht, 40 years; Jerry Lease, Steve Strawsburg Sr., Roland Strawsburg, 35 years; Neal Bankert, 30 years; Rick Fritz, Roxie Staub and Donald Grimes, 20 years.

Fire

New Windsor: Firefighters from New Windsor and Union Bridge responded at 3: 51 p.m. Tuesday to a field fire in the 3600 block of Middleburg Road. Units were out 34 minutes.
