Frank J. Wasowicz, 76, PSC executive secretary

Frank J. Wasowicz, former executive secretary of the state Public Service Commission, died Tuesday of lung cancer at Good Samaritan Hospital. The Towson resident was 76.

A civil engineer who worked in the private sector and at the old State Roads Commission, he was named a PSC hearing examiner in 1965 and served as executive secretary from 1974 until 1978. He retired as a hearing examiner in 1986.

The East Baltimore native earned bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland, College Park, respectively. He also had a law degree from the UM School of Law.

The World War II Army veteran was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore and Ware avenues, Towson, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lorraine Cook, whom he married in 1948; a son, John C. Wasowicz of Mays Chapel; a daughter, Elizabeth Mettee of Sparks; a sister, Marie Rostek of Baltimore; and a grandson.
