February 12, 1999|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A 40-year-old Glen Burnie man riding his motorcycle died yesterday afternoon after trying to avoid a truck making a turn from Washington Boulevard in Elkridge, Howard County police said.

The man -- whose name has not been released -- was traveling north on Washington Boulevard at 1: 15 p.m. when a truck traveling south on the boulevard turned left, in front of the motorcycle driver, onto Pine Avenue. The motorcyclist tried to avoid the truck but slid into it, said Sgt. Morris Carroll, police spokesman.

"He then actually stood up, fell and went into cardiac arrest," Carroll said. The man was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The accident is under investigation. No one has been charged, police said.
