Volunteers needed

Schools, libraries and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and assist in related projects.

Among them are:

Civic Works, Baltimore's Youth Service Corps, for after-school tutoring at Police Athletic League centers throughout the city between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays. Contact: Gwelan Peterson, 410- 366-8533.

Enoch Pratt Free Library's Exploration Center at the new Port Discovery children's museum, on Fallsway in Baltimore, to work four-hour shifts Saturdays and Sundays assisting librarians. Contact: Marion Hirsch, 410-396-9940.

Project CALL (Center for Adult Literacy and Learning), 5900 York Road, Baltimore. Adult volunteers are needed to work one-on-one with other adults. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and evenings by arrangement. Contact: Sister M. Delia, 410-532- 1770.
