The death of a Severn man who was gunned down after being chased by an assailant in South Baltimore was among three weekend homicides being investigated yesterday by city police.

Corey J. Grant, 29, of the 7900 block of Stonehearth Road collapsed and died of upper chest wounds in the 2600 block of Ridgely St. shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, police said.

Grant had been chased up a hill and along an alley by a gunman who fired several shots, one of which entered a home on Ridgely Street and narrowly missed a child.

"It's fortunate there were no other casualties," said homicide Detective Vernon Parker.

In the other incidents, a man was fatally shot about 4 a.m. yesterday in the 1600 block of Darley Ave. near Clifton Park, and a man was shot to death about 2: 15 p.m. yesterday in the 1900 block of Etting St. on the city's west side.

Police withheld the names of the victims last night. No arrests were reported.
