Artfully full in Oella

January 21, 1999|By John Dorsey

There's a lot of art at Mill River Gallery in Oella these days -- three shows -- and a lot of variety as well.

"The Naked Truth" has Virginia artist Edward Knippers' paintings concentrating on the Bible and especially the life of Christ.

"Word as Image" features New York artist Sandra Bowden's small-scale abstract works combining manuscripts, Hebrew texts and gold leaf. And "Short Stories" brings together small works by 19 artists, including photographs by Amy Shriber, sculptures by Gail Gorlitz and Shirley Koller, collages by Cathy Leaycraft, fiber works by Karen Birch, digital works by Stuart Stein and paintings by Deborah Souders, Michaele Ann Harper and Russ Havard.

The show is at Mill River Gallery, 840 Oella Ave., through Feb. 28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. For information, call 410-418-9100.
