Westminster officials drafting next city budget for hearings

Westminster officials intend to have a draft of the city's 1999-2000 budget ready for public meetings in April and May.

The tentative schedule includes a meeting April 5 to review a draft of the proposal, a completed proposal April 12, and a work session with elected officials and staff April 19.

A tax rate ordinance would be introduced during a Common Council meeting April 26. A public hearing on the tax rate and budget would be held May 3, and the budget would be adopted at the May 10 council meeting.

Fire

Reese: Firefighters responded at 3: 05 p.m. Monday to fallen electric wires on Bethel and Carrollton roads. Units were out two hours.

Police

Westminster: A resident of Fairway Drive told police Sunday his fence was damaged. Damage was estimated at $100.

Westminster: An employee of TCC Contracting told police Sunday that someone broke into the construction trailers at Comfort Square on West Main Street and Taneytown Pike. Damage and losses were estimated at $4,220.

Westminster: A resident of Wimert Avenue told police Saturday that someone damaged her vehicle and stole property. Loss was estimated at $435.
