Jewelry stolen, counters damaged at Eldersburg store

Burglars broke into an Eldersburg store early yesterday, smashed display counters and stole an undetermined amount of jewelry, state police said.

Responding at 4: 10 a.m. to an alarm in the 6300 block of Georgetown Blvd., troopers found that the front door at Starfire Designs in the Freedom Village Shopping Center was open. Its lock had been removed.

Anyone with information about a green multipurpose vehicle that was parked in front of the store about the time of incident may call state police in Westminster at 410-848-3111.

Fires

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 7: 08 p.m. Monday to burning wires at Eden Mill Road and Route 97. Units were out 65 minutes.

Sykesville: Firefighters from Sykesville, Gamber and Winfield responded at 6: 52 p.m. Monday to a stove fire in the 6600 block of Freedom Ave. Units were out 20 minutes.

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 3: 03 p.m. Monday to a transformer fire at Route 32 and Bartholow Road. Units were out 25 minutes.

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 2: 54 p.m. Monday to a utility pole fire on Hoods Mill Road. Units were out 30 minutes.
