Gettysburg tops Hopkins in OT, 73-70

4-game win streak ends as Blue Jays go cold

Gettysburg had four double-digit scorers, led by Kevin Carroll with 20 points, as it downed Johns Hopkins in overtime, 73-70, last night in a Centennial Conference game in Gettysburg, Pa.

The Blue Jays (9-3, 2-1), whose four-game winning streak ended, got a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds from Joel Wertman.

Hopkins forced overtime when Ryan Satalin made a 10-foot jumper with one second remaining to tie the game at 66. But Gettysburg (7-5, 2-1) scored the first five points in overtime and the Blue Jays hit just one free throw in the final 1: 30.

Rider 61, UMES 51: Junior Ken Lacey totaled 14 points and 13 rebounds to power the Broncs (7-6) past the Hawks (4-9).

Rider outscored UMES 15-4 in the final six minutes of the first half for a 28-16 lead. The 16 points were the fewest scored against Rider in a half this season.

Salisbury State 92, Marymount 79: Victor Jackson scored 18 points and George Robinson added 12 as the host Sea Gulls (6-5, 2-0) ended a four-game losing streak with a Capital Athletic Conference win. Salisbury took control with a 24-11 run over the opening eight minutes of the second half for a 66-50 lead.

Goucher 60, Mary Washington 46: Bakari Ward (Severna Park) scored 17 to pace the Gophers (10-2, 2-0) past the Eagles (6-4, 1-2) in a Centennial Conference game.

The Gophers broke open a 21-21 game at the 17-minute mark with a 16-5 run for a 37-26 advantage with 9: 32 left. Mary Washington drew to 43-40 at 5: 09, but Goucher's 17-6 run down the stretch secured the win.

St. Mary's 76, Gallaudet 45: The host Seahawks (5-6, 2-1) used a 13-0 run to open the second half on the way to a Capital Athletic Conference win. All 12 St. Mary's players scored, led by Brandon Jones' 13 points.

Women

Mary Washington 63, Goucher 58: The Eagles' Erin Caulfield led all scorers with 22 as visiting, seventh-ranked Mary Washington (8-1, 2-0) downed the Gophers (2-10, 0-3) in a Capital Athletic Conference game.

Goucher shot just 22 percent in the first half but managed to take a one-point lead at the break, 25-24. Shannon Towner led Goucher with 12.

Johns Hopkins 55, Gettysburg 45: Junior guard Leslie Ritter scored a game-high 14 points, including 10 in the first half, as the Blue Jays (10-2, 4-0) defeated the visiting Bullets (5-5, 2-2) in a Centennial Conference game.

Gallaudet 88, St. Mary's 83: Ronda Jo Miller scored 42 points and had 11 rebounds as the Bison (7-5, 1-2) held off the host Seahawks (8-3, 1-1) in a Capital Athletic Conference game.
