Bowie State men fall, but women rally to win

Greg Adams scored 20 and Earl Piner added 16 to power Washington College past visiting Villa Julie, 94-75, last night in Chestertown.

The Shoremen (7-5) extended a 39-32 halftime lead to 55-43. The Mustangs (1-12) shot 41.2 percent from the field, 14 percent below Washington College.

Villa Julie's Michael Palmere led all scorers with 26, and Jermaine Smith added 23 for the Mustangs.

Johnson C. Smith 74, Bowie State 66: Christopher Reese scored 24 to power the Golden Bulls (11-4) past the host Bulldogs (1-14) in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association action.

James Rice led the Bulldogs with 16.

Women

Salisbury State 94, College of Notre Dame 46: The Sea Gulls (8-3) -- led by Jamie Kohlenstein with 17 points -- outscored the visiting Gators (1-6) by 24 in each half for a commanding victory.

Shannon Skopp led the College of Notre Dame with 16.

Bowie State 75, Johnson C. Smith 62: The Bulldogs (12-2) -- led by Denay Fields with 14 points -- rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to defeat the Golden Bulls (7-6) in a CIAA game.
