West Baltimore woman homicide victim

January 11, 1999|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A woman found dead in her West Baltimore home yesterday was a homicide victim, said police, who were awaiting autopsy results.

Detective Marvin Sydnor said the sister of Deborah Elaine Compton, 43, found her about 7 p.m., lying on the kitchen floor of the victim's home in the 300 block of N. Carey St.

Sydnor said the sister had not seen the victim, who worked at Alice Manor Nursing Home in the 2000 block of Rockrose Ave., since Friday.

He said Compton's gray 4-door 1993 Mercury Sable with tags FBM 150 was missing. Sydnor said several rooms in the two-story brick house had been ransacked but there were no signs of forced entry or of missing property.

Sydnor said Compton's live-in boyfriend was being sought. Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide squad at 410-396-2100.
